T4XI – zero out of ten

I finally got around to seeing T4XI, and even my ultra low expectations weren’t able to prepare me for how bad it was. I admit, I only bothered to watch it for the 407, but it just never happened. Nothing. There’s not many Luc Besson films that I really dislike, but this is going on the top of the list.

Eminence have announced that there will be 2 separate shows for A Night in Fantasia this year, one for gaming (which I’ll happily skip) and a separate one for anime (which I’ll move heaven and earth to get to). I’m happy.

For the last week I’ve been revisiting the second season of Six Feet Under. I missed about every second episode of Six Feet Under when it was aired on TV, so I’m seeing lots of episodes I’ve never seen, and lots that I’d forgotten about.

What can I say? I like bratty redheads.

I’ve been accidentally listening to lots of Joe Hisaishi’s Ghibli soundtracks today – I just had them on while I was doing what whatever I was doing around the house. But a few times I just had to stop and listen. No matter how many times I hear them, some of the tracks from Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke still stop me dead in my tracks.

Over the last few months I’ve slowly been realizing something kinda sad – I can no longer sit down and watch an entire movie. I either give up after about 15 minutes, or if it’s really good, then I’ll wait until it’s about 2/3rds of the way through and then quit. Maybe it’s the kind of rubbish I’ve been watching, but unless it’s a documentary, or anime, I just can’t sit still.

While Channel 9 were fucking around with The Sopranos by moving it to midnight on Mondays, someone else was watching the the final episode of season 6. And I bet I wasn’t the only one. Once again, Australian commercial television has their hands down their pants.

It’s been a sweet 31 years, but we both know it’s been over for a long time. Moving Season 6 of The Sopranos to midnight is more that I can take. And the mid program ads on SBS (MythBusters, Top Gear, South Park) have tapped the last few nails into the coffin. Looks like anyone advertising on TV (targeting anyone over 11) had better jump ship and get some exposure on the BT sites.
